Things to Do in Sisters, Oregon
Enjoy an Annual Festival
Sisters has a variety of annual events and festivals that offer visitors a taste of local life. The Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show happens every July and is the largest outdoor quilt show in the USA. Or kick up some dust in June at the Sisters Rodeo to see some bulls, broncs, and boots action. If you’re visiting in the fall, the Sisters Folk Festival in September is a three-day music event presenting roots, bluegrass, and blues tunes.
Blaze a Trail
A trip to Sisters isn’t complete without a trail-blazing adventure. The hundreds of miles of scenic trails that surround the city make it easy to blaze a path through the wilderness. Whether you’re biking, hiking, or climbing, you’re sure to find a place that calls to your sense of adventure.
The Metolius River Trail winds through seven miles of Douglas firs, waterfalls, and sleepy river views. Visit nearby Smith Rock to hike 12 distinct trails, climb a mountain, or take a dizzying walk on a slackline. The Black Butte Lookout trail is one that every visitor should hike at least once. It’s a moderate climb, but the trail has an array of wildlife along the way and the highest peak offers stunning views of the entire Sisters area.

Shred Some Snow
Skiing, snowboarding, snowtubing – we’ve got plenty of ways to shred some winter snow. HooDoo Ski Area and Mt. Bachelor Ski Resort are both close to Sisters and offer visitors a chance to ski, tube, or snowboard down some steep slopes. They also offer lessons, a variety of family-friendly activities, and provide some delicious hot chocolate to warm your frosty toes.
